Hard water can cause numerous limescale deposits in the home: limescale-covered taps, white shower walls, clogged water heaters, and less efficient household appliances.
To limit these effects, several technologies exist: salt water softeners, magnetic anti-scale devices, electronic anti-scale devices, and electrostatic anti-scale devices.

An electrostatic anti-limescale device is installed on the main pipe in the house. It generates an electrostatic field when water flows through the device, acting on the mineral ions responsible for limescale.
This technology modifies the structure of limescale so that it is less likely to build up in domestic installations.
Not all anti-limescale technologies work in the same way. Some only have a preventative effect, while others also have a curative effect.
A remedial action means that the system can:

Electrostatic technology acts on the mineral ions present in water to modify their behaviour. Limescale crystals then tend to remain suspended rather than settling on surfaces.

| Technology | Preventive action | Action curative | Maintenance/risk of breakdowns |
|---|---|---|---|
| Salt softener | Yes | Yes | Student |
| Electronic limescale inhibitor | Yes | Yes | Average |
| Electrostatic limescale inhibitor | Yes | Yes | Very low |
| Magnetic limescale inhibitor | Yes | No | Very low |
Electronic limescale inhibitors perform just as well as electrostatic limescale inhibitors. They are therefore an effective system, whose only weakness is that they run on electricity and are more sensitive to power surges. Care should also be taken with electronic components, which do not like humidity.
Although this old technology has proven itself, it remains expensive, bulky and requires a lot of maintenance. It is also not environmentally friendly because of the salt water it releases into the environment.
Contrary to what one might think, the water obtained using this system has a bad taste and is not good for your health.
It is even not recommended for people with high blood pressure, those on a salt-free diet or those in poor health.
Please note that a Th below 10°Th is not recommended by water safety agencies.
Magnetic systems use magnets to generate a magnetic field around the pipe. This technology acts primarily as a preventive measure to limit the formation of new deposits.
It is recommended to install a filter before the magnetic anti-scale device for one simple reason: after many years, it is quite possible that iron oxide or filings may accumulate on the magnet.
Discover magnetic anti-limescale devices
Unlike purely magnetic systems, electrostatic anti-scale devices have both a preventive and a curative action. They can therefore act on existing deposits while limiting the formation of new ones.

In most cases, the device is installed on the main water supply to protect the entire domestic installation: bathroom, kitchen, water heater, and electrical appliances.
Manufactured in Japan for over 20 years, major brands such as Toyota, Hitachi, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, the University of Tokyo, Ashiya Municipal Hospital, and many others. Numerous government agencies and individuals in Japan and around the world already trust in the effectiveness of Suprion technology.

"INVENTOR of SUPRION"
Mr. J. K. Ibbott (1921–2004) was a scientist born in Australia. After graduating from Hobart University in Australia, he studied electrical engineering and mechanical engineering and made a number of inventions, including a piezoelectric crystal production method. From 1980 onwards, he became interested in the field of water and set about developing a more environmentally friendly water treatment device. After constant effort and thousands of tests, in 1995 he finally developed the SUPRION water treatment device, which uses static electricity.
Yes, thanks to its curative action, it can act on existing deposits while limiting the formation of new ones.
The magnetic system acts mainly preventively, while the electrostatic system can also act on limescale that is already present.
Yes, it is often chosen by people who wish to limit the effects of limescale without using salt.
No, only salt-based water softeners alter the hardness of water (Th: hydrotimetric titre). Measuring hardness provides information about the quantity of minerals contained in water, but anti-limescale devices have no influence on this chemical measurement.
